No Child Left Behind

Horizontal Divider 21

In the beginning...We discussed topics, points of view on the issue (NCLB), history, economics, decision makers, who it affected, possible solutions, and consequences.  Then we each decided which area we were most interested in researching and went to work!

WHY WE CHOSE THIS TOPIC

Wendy – I was interested because of education concerns as a parent and future educator (Education Major).

Sabrina - At first I didn't care, then after learning about it I thought it was interesting because it really affects children, especially if they have a learning disability (Psychology Major).

Melissa - Well, I never really cared about the issue mainly because I went to private school, so I never had to take the FCAT, but I've seen my cousin's go through the Florida education system, and I was really interested in how the whole thing worked (Communication Major).

Kelly - As someone who's seen first hand what NCLB does to learning disabled students, I was interested in finding out exactly what it was and how it was supposed to help all students.  Unfortunately, all I've seen is how NCLB punishes LD students who are not on the same level as their non-disabled peers. (Environmental Studies Major)
